like large thunder clouds

last year i lived in new york
and i disappeared for a year
and became one of the millions of people
living within a few square miles of each other

i could reach my hands down the alleyways
from uptown to downtown to the village
to brooklyn to queens
and i could feel all the whiskey and pabst blue ribbon beer
evaporate inside all of their stomachs
they were wonderful
and now im back in florida
and i see all my friends when i go outside
and how i wish i could put them all in my mouth
like little babies in a warm sink
and swallow them all
and keep them safe inside me
